What we manage for you

• Installation. We install the current release of CubeCart and carry out the initial configuration
• Core upgrades. When a new CubeCart version is released we apply it, having checked first that your skin and plugins are compatible
• Plugin and skin upgrades, kept current alongside the core rather than left until something breaks
• Security patches applied as soon as a critical fix is released, without waiting for the next full version
• Full CubeCart support as well as the usual hosting support, so questions about the software itself are covered too
• Backups, taken and monitored, so a restore is a request rather than a project

Why the upgrades are the point

The most common reason a CubeCart store ends up in trouble is that upgrades were deferred. Each one skipped makes the next one larger, until the store is several major versions behind, on a PHP version that is no longer supported, with plugins that will not run on anything current. Getting out of that position costs considerably more than staying current would have done. On a fully managed plan it does not happen, because the upgrades are our job rather than an item on your list.

Performance

Our servers run current, supported PHP versions with opcode caching enabled, which makes a substantial difference to how quickly pages are generated. They are tuned for e-commerce database workloads specifically, and they are not oversold.

How access works

cPanel access is not provided on fully managed plans, which is what lets us guarantee the state of the installation. Skins and plugins are installed through the CubeCart Extension Marketplace from inside the store admin. On request we can provide up to two FTP accounts restricted to the skins and images directories, so a designer can customise a skin and you can upload images by hand, without the rest of the installation being exposed.

Moving an existing store

Migrations are free and we do them regularly. We copy the store across, get it working, bring it up to date and let you test it properly. DNS changes only when you are satisfied, so nothing goes live until you say so.
